Actress Akanksha Chamola revealed during a candid conversation on the reality show Lock Upp 2 that she has permanently decided to stay away from marriage and physical relationships. According to TV9 Bangla, her heartfelt discussion with co-contestant Varun Yadav highlighted her personal struggles and evolving views on love, marriage, and sexuality.

When Varun asked if she would consider starting a new family in the future, Akanksha firmly stated that she has removed the idea of marriage from her life forever, citing a deep-seated fear born from past bitter experiences. "A permanent fear has taken root in my heart," she expressed.

Addressing questions about her current sexual identity, Akanksha offered a mature and thoughtful response. She explained that sexual orientation can change depending on life circumstances and mental state. Currently undergoing legal divorce proceedings, she said, "I do not want any physical relationship with either men or women at this point in my life. I am at a completely different stage now, which in medical and psychological terms is called 'asexual.'"

Reflecting on her past, she mentioned, "I got married quite young, at just 24 years old." Upon hearing her strong stance against future marriages, another contestant comforted her by saying that she could still find a kind-hearted partner someday. However, Akanksha remained resolute in her decision.

She concluded by sharing her future plans: "I will never sit on the marriage altar again. This is enough for me. But now, for the first time, I will learn to live completely alone and independently. Until now, I have lived either under my parents' care or in my husband's household. Now, I will live alone in a house I built with my own earnings. From now on, I want to enjoy life on my own terms and conditions."

Why this matters

Akanksha Chamola's openness about asexuality and rejecting traditional marital expectations challenges societal norms, especially in the Indian context where marriage is often seen as a crucial milestone. Her story sheds light on evolving perspectives about personal freedom, mental health, and sexual identity. This candid revelation may inspire others to reflect on their own relationships and choices without societal pressure.

Her decision to embrace independence and self-sufficiency highlights a growing trend of individuals prioritizing personal well-being over conventional life paths.

As conversations about sexuality and mental health gain prominence, Akanksha's experience contributes meaningfully to the discourse, encouraging acceptance and understanding.
